Sterling Police Arrest Four Area Teens for Breaking Into Cars and Weapons Charges

On Sunday, May 25, just after 2:00 am, officers from the Sterling Police Department arrested 19-year-old Emillio Castro, 21-year-old Nathaniel A. Ramirez, and two male juveniles following a report of suspicious activity.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of East 15th Street after receiving a report of individuals looking into vehicles. Upon arrival, officers located and detained Castro, Ramirez, and two juvenile males in the area. Through further investigation, it was determined the four individuals had entered multiple vehicles and were in possession of stolen property.

Nathaniel A. Ramirez of Rock Falls and Emillio Castro of Rock Falls was charged with the following: Burglary (Class 3 Felony) Criminal Trespass to Vehicle (5 counts – Class A Misdemeanors) Possession of Stolen Property. Nathaniel A. Ramirez, was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Concealed Weapon without a Permit.

The two male juveniles, 16 and 17 years old both from Sterling, IL were each charged with: Burglary (Class 3 Felony) Criminal Trespass to Vehicle (5 counts – Class A Misdemeanors) Possession of Stolen Property (Class A Misdemeanor) Curfew Violation.

In addition, one of the juveniles was also charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon for possessing pepper spray. In accordance with the IL SAFE-T Act all above where released with pending court dates.
